Happy Veterans Days

Happy Veterans Days to all American soldiers who served and still serving, especially I'm proud to my hubby who served more than 22 years as active soldier and still serving as civilian.

Here are some infos about Nov. 11th from Y! Buzz.
The 11th Hour: The Date Behind Veterans Day
While most know that Veterans Day honors those who have served in the military, the meaning behind its exact date (November 11) may not be so familiar. Here's the backstory:
Back in 1918, in the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, a stop to hostilities was declared, ending World War I. An armistice to cease the fighting on the Western Front was signed by the Allied powers and Germany.
President Woodrow Wilson immediately proclaimed the day "Armistice Day," kicking off the annual commemoration on November 11. But over the years, with veterans returning from World War II and the Korean War, Armistice Day became Veterans Day — a day reserved to honor veterans returning from all wars. But 11/11 still represented the end of the Great War in the public's mind, and the date stuck.
In 1921, unidentified dead from the war were buried in Arlington National Cemetery in Washington, D.C., Westminster Abbey in London, and the Arc de Triomphe in Paris. The tradition to honor those killed in the war but never identified continues every year in the U.S. The ceremony is held at 11 a.m. at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Arlington National Cemetery.
Congress designated Veterans Day as a legal holiday in 1938, and since then, most Americans have come to know it as a day for store sales and parades. Yahoo! Searches on the holiday have already surged on the Web. People want to know "veterans day history," "veterans day closings," veterans day sales," and "veterans day free meals."

Mellow Yellow Monday # 1

Another new meme I'm participating called Mellow Yellow Monday. I really enjoying this different meme. Makes you think and share some photos you have been keeping. Just for example of this photo that I took last year in Sweden. My cousin ordered an expensive and little portion meal in a sophisticated Restaurant in Stockholm, Sweden. A salmon with mussels and chopped green onion and parsley. The sauce they use I don't know the name of it, sorry!

Done with my shopping

As you can see, my Christmas tree was different from the last I posted. I added more ornaments to make look more beautiful. You can also see more gifts and that means that I'm done with my shopping. Ialso send some packages to my family back in Texas and friend in New York. I'm getting ready for our vacation in England and it's getting closer, less than 2 weeks. We are finally spending our first holiday out of Germany (for over 5 years) with my sister in-law and niece. I'm excited to see them because it's been a long time we've seen each other back in States and also first time to go to UK. To see London or some part of England. Hopefully, it won't be our first and last. I hope that my sister in-law will invite us again even though it's not holiday and money will permit.

Have a great day to y'all......

Julie Vega

Hello friends, how's your day today? I was watching another story of "Maalaala Mo Kaya Classics." Does any one remember Julie Vega who plays one the popular soap opera in the Philippines "Annaliza", 3 decades ago? Well, I watched her story in “Maalaala Mo Kaya” and I was shocked to find out how she died. I was not the fan of Julie Vega but I remember her when I was a kid. I used to watch “Flordeluna” so I wasn’t familiar on “Annaliza.” Julie Vega was her screen name but her real name was Darling Juliepearl. She has 5 brothers and she was the youngest and only girl. Her mother was a Dentist. Julie was discovered by Talent Coordinator and she started as a model for commercial ad. From that on, producers and directors offered her more shows and movies for her talents. She became known as a superstar on soap opera. She made a lot of movies with famous celebrities like Fernando Poe Jr., Susan Roces, Vilma Santos and many more. She loved her oldest brother Joey and she was really close to him. One night, Joey and a group of friends went to hang out or gimik, when suddenly unknown men approached Joey and stabbed him for mistaken identity. He was not the target but he got stabbed straight to the heart and that’s the caused of his death instantly. Julie couldn’t believe what happened to his brother so she became stress, fatigue and lonely and still continued to act in her soap opera until one day, she felt numb and can’t feel anything all over her body. They took her to the hospital and the doctor couldn’t find what’s wrong with her. After a week of staying in a hospital, she gained her strength and thought that every thing was back to normal so she started to act again. She made her first single hit “Somewhere in my Past” that she dedicated to her lost brother. One morning, she couldn’t get up because she can’t fell anything and felt paralyzed. She was rushed to the hospital and this time, they found some kind of disease that she won’t feel anything and the worst part was she could be paralyzed for life and there is no cure for it. It got worst when she had bronchitis pneumonia. Julie and her family hid the secrets about her disease until she stopped acting and lost her life. It’s all over the news and some speculations that she died in “Kulam or Voo Doo” or eating disorder. It was hard for Vega family losing a son for identity mistaken and here’s another tragedy losing their only talented girl, Julie.

I have some photos to share with you and I took it from my own TV screen to help you remembering Julie Vega.

You have a nice day…..

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!!!!

Thanksgiving is the occassion to be thankful for the many favors granted by God.
Thanksgiving Day is also about togetherness, love and expressing our sincerest gratitude to people who love and care for us and who has helped us in some way of the other....
May Your Thanksgiving be blessed with the bounty of the season, love of friends and family and a harvest of smiles..... HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!!!!
The origin of Thanksgiving- began in 1621 when American colonists in Plymouth, Massachusetts and the Wampanoag Indians shared the first Thanksgiving meal. Given some misnomers, we don't think the menu included today's traditional Thanksgiving meal favorites. Thanksgiving historians doubt that there was pumpkin pie (sugar and flour were not available) or mashed potatoes (the Europeans still considered the potato poisonous at this time). Original feast foods that might surprise you were fish, eel, berries, watercress, lobster, dried fruit, clams, venison, and plums. The original feast lasted three days and was based on traditional English harvest festivals that usually occurred in England around September 29th. It wasn't until two years later in 1623, after a horrible drought, that the actual "Thanksgiving" celebration occurred. It was called Thanksgiving because the drought finally came to an end after a period of intense praying by the colonists.
Have a Gobble gobble day!!!!!

Amazing shots!!!

These photos are my favorite shots. I shot it when I was in the airplane about 25,000 miles above the ground. At first, it wasn’t clear as it is now, it’s because I used the auto adjust. It makes my photos more clear, colorful and beautiful. I’m sooo proud of myself that I don’t have to go to a class or learn how to take a picture. You just keep taking pictures and you will get breathtaking and magnificent photos. I don’t need an expensive camera just to get these astonishing views. It’s my privilege to share my photos to all of you and next time, I will post more.

Have A Nice Day to y’all……

here are some picturesque nature... from crystalinks.com. Thank you for the infos!

What a Natures!!!

Nature is generally distinguished from the supernatural. It ranges in scale from the subatomic to the galactic. These are the example of our nature. Some are nice and beautiful but some are frightening or creepy. The lightning strikes during the 1982 eruption of Galunggung in west Java, Indonesia. Thanks to the crystalinks.com for the wonderful pictures.
